Ear Candling
It’s a dirty little secret,
but everyone has ear wax. Some
people have ears which manufacture the ideal quantity of wax.
Others have so much wax that they may
experience health problems. There are
numerous approaches to remove excessive ear wax, but ear candling is a
fast and convenient way to do it. Ear candling is a part of the "alternative healing" paradigm, and it's
one which western medicine has largely ignored.
How it's done
The process of ear candling is simple.
You lie down on
your side, and the smaller end
of the candle is inserted in to the ear. A protective covering is
over the ear-access hole. The other end
of the candle is lit and burns gently 4 to 6 inches, and then it
is extinguished.
As the flame seeks oxygen to burn, it converts the inside of the hollow candle into a vacuum that draws residue out
of the ear and up into the candle.
Does it hurt?
The procedure of ear candling is meant to be relaxing and enjoyable. The only thing you will feel during the
procedure is the candle being inserted into the ear. It is a warm, soothing and comfortable
experience.
Benefits of ear candling
Ear candling allows you to remove the debris from inside your ear that is unreachable with a Q-tip. The ear candle
is an effective way to remove impacted wax, fungus, past residues of infection and fat globules. Also, people who
suffer from headaches, ear infections, allergies, sinus infections, hearing challenges and TMJ dysfunction may
benefit from this procedure.
What happens when you do ear
candling?
Ear candling, also known as ear coning, is a method intended to dislodge earwax, toxins, and
debris from inside the ear. The warmth from
your candle results in a vacuum which in turn “sucks” the wax out.
Numerous research has shown the
wax deposit in the center of
ear wax candles is certainly wax from the inside of your ear.
What are the candles made of?
The candles are made from muslin covered in bee's wax and range between ten to fourteen inches long and one-half to
three-quarters of an inch wide at the smaller end.
Is it
dangerous?
When done properly, under supervised conditions, ear candling is not
dangerous. Critics of ear
candling claim that it may be
harmful, even dangerous, while wildly enthusiastic testimonials claim it’s healed them of everything
from swimmer’s ear to muddled thinking. The reality probably lies
somewhere in the middle, but just like any surgical procedure you will find
inherent risks that you should know before starting. If you follow the
procedure, then it’s a very simple way to use ear wax candle and clean your ear.
How much does it cost?
Ear Candling + Bio-Mat Combo 1 session $45. (2 candles per
ear)
